Our Suz
Who is Suz? Suz, or to most “Susie,” was our rockstar mom and superhero. The best mom, wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. After battling ovarian cancer for 3 years, she lost the fight in July of 2013. Whether as an attorney or class mom, Susie spent her entire life advocating for others. Now it is our turn to advocate for her when she can’t.
Throughout the 3 years that Susie was living with ovarian cancer, she kept a blog detailing the good, the bad and the ugly (hair days) and everything in between. She was optimistic, inspiring, and not to mention, extremely funny. Susie had an unparalleled passion for life and was dedicated to facilitating positive change. We take both this passion and dedication with us when planning Cycle for Suz.
Unfortunately, Susie’s story is just one of the many stories of this kind. She represents every person and family member that has been affected by these terrible diseases. So, for Susie, let’s cycle and fundraise tirelessly, like Suz would have, because after all, she was never tired and invented the 25 hour day.
We think about her and miss her every day, and as she signed off in every blog post: Lots of love, Cycle for Suz Team.
Cycle for Suz
Cycle for Suz is an energetic and very pink annual cycling event that raises awareness and funds for Bright Pink. We cycle for the powerful, strong, beautiful women in our lives, many of whom have fought breast and ovarian cancer. We cycle to empower our generation with the awareness and knowledge they need to live a proactive, healthy, cancer-free life. Not only does Cycle for Suz provide a significant contribution to support the organization’s mission, it supports all participants with information and resources to support this life saving mission.
Bright Pink
Bright Pink helps to save lives from breast and ovarian cancer by empowering women to know their risk and manage their health proactively. They focus on health, not cancer, to inspire women to practice prevention and they have curated innovative programs, strategic initiatives and powerful partnerships that directly reach women in their daily lives and healthcare providers in their daily practice.
The Bright Pink team takes a two-pronged approach to breast and ovarian health education. By educating young women as well as their healthcare providers, they are fostering a supportive healthcare relationship where informed women have proactive conversations with trusted providers on a regular basis.
